New Montauk Monster sighting?
Locals in a small Canadian town have been stumped by the appearance of a bizarre creature, which was dragged from a lake.
The animal, which has a long hairy body with bald skin on its head, feet and face, has prompted wild internet speculation that it is a more evolved version of the famous 'Montauk monster'.
The creature was discovered by two nurses in the town of Kitchenuhmaykoosib in Ontario, Canada, while out on a walk with their dog.

Sheep? No, it's a furry pig!
It look like a sheep at first glance, but if you look carefully it's actually a pig.
This rare breed is one of three curly coated Mangalitza pigs which have been delivered from Austria to a zoo in the United Kingdom, according to the Daily Mail.
Originating from Austria and Hungary, the Mangalitza is similar to the native Lincolnshire curly coat breed which died out in Britain 40 years ago. Three years ago a small number of the breed were brought back to create a herd in Britain, the report said.
"At first sight, people think they are sheep," Denise Cox, education co-ordinator, at Tropical Wings, said.
"It is not until they turn around and you see their faces and snouts you realize they are in fact pigs," he added.
"The woolly coat makes them very hardy and helps them to survive in the harsh winters in their native Austria and Hungary."
They are worth around US$1,500, five times the value of an ordinary pig and are fond of fruit and the odd tipple.
Most expensive letter from Titanic
A letter, dated April 10, 1912, from a first class passenger onboard the Titanic (written by passenger George Graham of Harriston of Canada, a sales manager for the Eaton's department store company, to a business colleague in Berlin, Germany) was sold at auction by Spink Smythe in New York City for $16,100-setting the world record for the most expensive letter from Titanic.
George Graham wrote: "I am sorry that I neglected to send you a wire on the first of April but I forgot all about it until Tuesday, you see.
I arrived in London Late Sunday and I was very busy all day Monday and I forgot all about it however, I hope that you will accept my good wishes now even if they are a bit late.
I hope to see you next year and that you and your good wife will enjoy good health."

Otherwise VG. Mr. Graham joined the Titanic at Southampton with first-class ticket 112053 and was berthed in cabin B-52.
On her maiden voyage the Titanic struck a North Atlantic iceberg and sank within hours early on the morning of April 14, 1912.

Graham did not survive the sinking.
"Hours before the ship struck an iceberg, Graham wired his wife back in Canada saying he was well and indicating he would be in New York City on Wednesday.
She received the wire on Tuesday morning, when news of the disaster was on everyone's lips, and mistakenly took it to mean her husband survived," explained Litzenberger.
"Days later she was informed his body had been recovered from the North Atlantic."
Letters written aboard the Titanic are among the most scarce and desirable articles connected with the tragedy.

Road sign near Treviso, Italy, warning motorists to watch out for prostitutes
The sign states 'Attenzione Prostitute' - seemingly warning people of prostitutes in the area.
Motorists and pedestrians have complained that the sign is 'confusing', saying they don't know if it means to watch out for crossing hookers or if it means prostitutes operate in the area.
One local Dino Vezino, 34, said: "I was driving in to work and saw this sign and had to slow down to get a proper look.
"I couldn't believe it - the woman has a mini-skirt and high heels on and very big breasts.
"I just couldn't work out what it was for?
"Does it mean I have to look out for prostitutes crossing or that they are available around here?"

Library book returned 45 years late
LONDON - Staff at the Dinnington library are used to people bringing books back late but the package they received last month was in a class of its own.
It contained a paperback first edition copy of "Quatermass and the Pit" by Nigel Kneale which had been borrowed on September 24, 1965.
"I thought at first it was just a normal return, until I saw the color of the pages: they were very brown around the edges," said Alison Lawrie, the Principal Library Assistant.
"It's true that some people like to take their time with a good book, but 45 years is an incredible amount of time!"
Staff believe the book was borrowed from the old Dinnington Library, in Sheffield, South Yorkshire which opened in 1936 and is close to the current building which opened in 2000.
However, the identity of the borrower remains a mystery because records do not go back that far -- and there would have been no danger of a huge accumulated fine because all fines are capped at 6 pounds .

The kicker comes afterward when, in a candle-lighted chapel, the students attend their own funeral and even lie in a coffin for 10 full minutes—with the lid shut!
“It’s a way to let go of certain things,” Jung told LA Times. Oh, he’s a former insurance company lecturer, by the way. He added, “Afterward, you feel refreshed. You’re ready to start your life all over again, this time with a clean slate.”
His overall goal is to teach depressed men and women to better appreciate the greatness of life by forcing them to deal with death. Being trapped in a coffin and surrounded by total darkness is apparently supposed to make these poor saps realize that suicide just isn’t worth it.
Whether the idea is original or not, we cannot say, but what we do know is that this concept of simulating death is being practiced all across South Korea. The Examiner pointed out, for instance, that the Kyobo insurance company (insurance again!?) requires that all its employees attend a fake funeral, such as that being offered by Jung.
Interesting concept. Would you be up for it? If so, then in the welcoming words of Mr. Jung Loon, “Let’s get close to death!”

Man Eats Young Boy’s Brains to Cure His Epilepsy
29-year old Wang Chaoxu, who hails from the southwest Chinese village of Qixian, seems to have a nasty habit of killing children and eating their brains, believing them to be the cure for his epilepsy. 11-year old Li Xuetang disappeared one night, prompting his mother to become worried, and going so far as imploring the head of the village to make a radio broadcast on the off chance her song might see it.
Sadly, the young boy was found on January 23rd several hours later with his head opened and part of his brain removed. In a scene reminiscent of a horror film, a local villager by the named of Zhang Huansheng saw a man kneeling over the boy and holding him by the neck.
When Zhang approached the man, he passed the boy off as his son, saying “My child has passed out and I’m trying to wake him up. Baby, wake up, wake up.”
In addition to the young boy, a 3-year old girl was found in a public toilet with a knife wound to her head, and police are currently investigating whether the two deaths are connected.

physicist has said he hopes to make major advances in the field of invisibility in the next two years.
Professor Ulf Leonhardt at St Andrews University is working on a blueprint for a cloaking device that could also be used to shield coast lines.
The researcher, who cites the Invisible Woman and Harry Potter as inspiration, has been working on the concept of invisibility since 2006.
The project will focus on a connection between light and curved space.

Woman Delivers ‘Stone Baby’ After 60 Year Pregnancy
This true story of a 92-year-old woman who delivered a child (albeit not a live baby) she had been carrying for over half a century! (Long pregnancies are one thing, but THAT is ridiculous!)
Huang Yijun, aged 92, is from southern China and she recently made news after delivering a baby known as a lithopedion, aka ‘Stone Baby’.
Huang Yijun told the press she didn’t have the money to have her fetus removed after doctors told her it had died inside her in 1948.
So she simply did nothing at all about it.
Lithopedion is a very rare medical phenomenon, which occurs when a pregnancy fails and the fetus actually calcifies while still in the mother’s body.
Medically speaking, what often happens is the implanted fetus gets to an advanced stage before it dies. Too large to be absorbed by the body, the remains of the child or its surrounding amniotic sac slowly calcify, turning to stone as a way to protect the woman’s body from infection from the decomposing tissue.
If no complications occur, believe it or not, the mother can basically just go on with her life.
According to the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, only 290 cases of lithopedions have ever been documented by medical literature.

Cute chihuahua with a heart on his coat
This is the adorable chihuahua puppy who, like his older brother, was born with a perfect heart-shaped patch on his side.
The cute little pooch has been suitably named Lovekun by its owner in northern Japan.
At three days old, the long-haired chihuahua has been catching up on his sleep between bouts of suckling on his mother with the other three pups in the litter.

Chinese ‘Cat-Boy’ Can See in the Dark
Referred to as the CAT-BOY, Nong Youhui from southern China has confounded scientists with his bizarre ability to see in pitch-blackness with his blue eyes that actually glow in the dark!
Having bright blue eyes in China is certainly weird enough, but Nong Youhui’s dad, Ling, was always concerned and feared they signified something deep and dark that he did not understand.
“They told me he would grow out of it and that his eyes would stop glowing and turn black like most Chinese people but they never did,” said Ling.
The boy has been subjected to a battery of medical tests, all of which were conducted in abject darkness and results have indicated that he does indeed have the ability to read perfectly in the dark and see as clearly as most people do during the day.
Experts believe the boy was born with a chronic condition known as leukodermia (also called Vitiligo), which is characterized by spots or bands of unpigmented skin. The precise cause of leukodermia is very complex and not fully understood. It is known that as a result of this auto-immune disorder, eyes are more sensitive to light and without as much protective pigment as would be found in normal eyes.
If this bizarre anomaly causes those afflicted to have vision similar to that attributed to felines, does it then raise some uncomfortable questions about evolution and exactly where human beings fit into the process? Are we still under construction, so to speak?
One could ask CAT-BOY, but would he answer?

Echizen kurage have shown up in Japanese waters in increasing numbers in recent years. The population surge of 2005 was particularly bad, affecting the salmon, yellowtail, and anchovy fisheries. But the mass of them gathering now in the Yellow Sea off China is the biggest ever, and eventually ocean currents will deliver them to Japan’s doorstep.
The reasons for the exploding population are not clear. Theories range from agriculture runoff to overfishing to global warming. As for fighting the jellyfish, methods are few and far between. In fact, when under attack, the creatures release millions of sperm or eggs, all with the potential to grow more jellyfish.
There have been efforts to make the most of this plague by creating jellyfish products. Some of them are edible, including ice cream and even cookies. Echizen kurage is also a source of collagen, which can be used in cosmetics.
But the jellyfish invasion in store for Japan this time around is likely to deliver more raw materials than any such efforts could possibly keep up with. The result could be devastation for much of Japan’s fishing industry.
